About Cheryl Malone

Cheryl Malone is from Northern Ireland and she is the owner and artistic director of Malone Dance Academy Studios Ltd, Dundalk, Ireland and Malone Dance Academy Hillsborough.   Cheryl began dancing at the age of 3 and immediately fell in love with the art form..  She knew from an early age her passion was helping others achieve their goals and of course dance! It was in her teenage years she was determined to become a dance teacher.  Cheryl graduated in 2005 from Queens University, Belfast with   BA HONS degree in English and Drama, whilst simultaneously achieving her major ballet examinations and her Associate Dance Teaching examinations.  Cheryl opened her own academy in the summer of 2005. In 2005, She opened a school in Dundalk as that is her father’s hometown and she always had a strong connection with the local town. Recently in 2022, Cheryl relocated to Hillsborough, where her husband was orginally from. Cheryl was delighted to introduce AcroDance to the village of Hillsborough and her program continues to grow. As her dance school flourished Cheryl wanted to develop her skills as a teacher by gaining various other qualifications.  In 2011 Cheryl achieved her PGCE in Dance Education which allowed her to become a Lecturer in Performing Arts at the Southern Regional College, Northern Ireland for four years (2013 – 2017).  In September 2017 Cheryl decided as her academy was expanding rapidly, it was time to give it 100% commitment and she took time out from lecturing. Cheryl was delighted to accept a new teaching post with the South Eastern Regional College in October 2023 as the lead Ballet Teacher and is overjoyed to be back lecturing in third level education. Cheryl also developed a love for yoga and Acro yoga over the years. Cheryl became a yoga student after the birth of her daughter Juliette in 2009 to help recover from an injury.  After a few months of training, Cheryl became aware of how yoga could compliment the training of the dancer.  In 2014, Cheryl decided  to embark on her yoga teacher training course  and completed her qualification  in 2015.  Cheryl actively uses yoga with her dancers and acro dancers as a means of cross training their bodies to create more balanced and stronger dancers.

Cheryl is very proud to be on the examining and teacher training team for Acrobatic Arts, Canada.  Cheryl believes passionately in Acrobatic Arts ethos of safety and technique and strength and flexibility.  She is delighted to be able to share all her knowledge with her staff and students.  Cheryl is also a qualified Preschool AcroDance teacher and a qualified AcroDance Adjudicator.

Cheryl is also a Teacher Assessor for BBO Dance, London.
